Pixel to Millimeter Converter
Convert between pixels and millimeters based on DPI for design and print applications.
The Pixel to Millimeter Converter translates pixels into millimeters and back. Enter a value and the DPI, and the tool calculates the other unit instantly. Useful when you prepare screen designs for print.
How it works
- Enter a pixel or millimeter value in the corresponding field.
- Adjust the DPI if you are not working at the Windows default (96 DPI). Quick picks: 72 DPI (web), 96 DPI (Windows), 300 DPI (print).
- The converted value appears automatically in the other field.
The conversion formula for pixels and millimeters
The conversion depends on the resolution. The formulas: mm = (px x 25.4) / DPI and px = (mm x DPI) / 25.4. At 96 DPI, 1,920 pixels equal roughly 508 mm. At 300 DPI (print resolution) that drops to about 163 mm.
The tool shows A4 (210 x 297 mm) and US Letter (215.9 x 279.4 mm) as reference sizes. 1 inch equals 25.4 mm.
FAQ
What does DPI mean?
DPI stands for dots per inch. The higher the DPI, the more pixels fit into one centimeter. Screens typically work at 72 to 96 DPI, print files at 300 DPI.
Which DPI value should I use?
72 or 96 DPI for web design, 300 DPI for print. The tool starts at 96 DPI (Windows default) and you can change it anytime.
Can I convert from millimeters to pixels?
Yes. Enter the millimeter value and the tool calculates the pixels. The conversion works in both directions.
