Free SEO Toolbar for Chrome: On-Page SEO Data in One Click
The free Buzzmatic SEO extension shows the title, meta description, canonical, headings, links, hreflang and accessibility issues of any page in one popup, with no account and no tab switching.
Overview
What this SEO Chrome extension does

The Buzzmatic SEO Toolbar is a free Chrome extension that puts the on-page SEO data of the current page into one popup. Click the icon and you see the title tag, meta description, canonical, meta robots, status code, headings, links, hreflang tags, JSON-LD and the results of an automated accessibility check.
No more view-source, no robots.txt in a new tab, no digging through DevTools. The toolbar reads the page the way the browser renders it after JavaScript has run, so you check the rendered result, not the raw HTML.
Free, no account, no tracking. The interface is in English.
We use the toolbar ourselves in our agency work and make it available for free.
Features
6 features of the free SEO toolbar
"SEO Analysis" tab
Check title tags, meta descriptions and canonicals

The first tab covers the basics of every on-page audit. Every value has a copy button.
- Title tag with character count. The badge is green up to 60 characters and orange from 61.
- Meta description with character count. Green up to 160, orange from 161. If it's missing, you see "Not found".
- Canonical URL labeled "Self-referencing" when it matches the current URL exactly, otherwise "Canonicalized". The match is character-exact, so a parameter or a missing trailing slash already counts as canonicalized.
- Meta robots labeled "Indexable" or "Noindex". Without a tag, the toolbar shows the default "index, follow".
- Status code labeled "OK", "Redirect" or "Error". The browser has already followed any redirects, so you usually see the status of the final page.

Validate hreflang tags
The toolbar lists the language code and URL of every hreflang entry. "Copy All" copies them as ready-to-paste <link> tags. "Validate" opens each alternate URL in the background and checks whether it links back to the current page. A green check means the return link exists. It does not check whether language codes or x-default are valid.

View schema.org JSON-LD
Every JSON-LD block shows up with its @type. Expand it to see formatted JSON and copy it in one click. Microdata and RDFa aren't detected, and there's no validation. For that, use the Rich Results Test shortcut or our JSON-LD validator.
"Headings" tab
Check your heading structure from H1 to H6

The Headings tab lists every heading in document order, each with a level badge. Counters above show how many H1s, H2s, H3s and so on the page has, but only for levels that exist. No H1 counter means no H1.
"Highlight" outlines every heading on the page itself and labels its level. That tells you at a glance whether the big headline is really an H1 or just large text. "Copy All" copies the list as "H2: text", handy for content briefs and audits.
The list is flat by design. The toolbar doesn't flag skipped levels. For that, use our free heading structure checker.
"Links" tab
Analyze internal, external and nofollow links

The Links tab counts every link on the page and splits them into internal, external and nofollow. The list shows anchor text and target URL, and a search field filters both.
- Eye icon: highlights internal (green), external (blue) or nofollow links (yellow) on the page
- Select mode: tick individual links and mark only those on the page
- Copy All: copies the filtered list as "anchor: URL"
Good to know: internal means the exact same hostname, so subdomains like "blog." count as external. sponsored and ugc aren't evaluated, and broken links aren't checked. There's no file export for links, only the clipboard.
"A11y" tab
Test accessibility in your browser: a quick WCAG check

The A11y tab runs the open-source testing library axe-core on the current page, including rules for alt text, ARIA attributes, form labels and color contrast. Results appear in four counters: Violations, Passed, N/A and Incomplete.
- Filters for WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 (A, AA), best practice and impact level
- One card per violation with rule, description and number of affected elements
- Eye icon highlights affected elements in red on the page
- Copy Issues copies the violations as text
The check takes a few seconds. Two limits worth knowing. First, the toolbar loads axe-core from cdnjs.cloudflare.com. If a site's Content Security Policy blocks that script, the tab shows zero everywhere, which is not a pass. Second, automated checks only catch part of all barriers. For a reliable audit against WCAG and the European Accessibility Act, see our accessibility audit.
"Tools" tab
View robots.txt and export SEO data to Excel

Robots.txt checker: one click loads the robots.txt of the current domain and shows it as plain text. The toolbar doesn't parse it. Whether the current URL is blocked is up to you to read, or check with the robots.txt tester in Bing Webmaster Tools from the Shortcuts tab.
Export to Excel: creates an XLSX file named seo-audit-{domain}-{date}.xlsx with:
- "Overview" sheet: URL, title and length, meta description and length, canonical, whether it's self-referencing, meta robots, whether noindex is set
- "Hreflang" sheet: all hreflang entries, if present
- "Schema" sheet: all JSON-LD blocks, if present
Status code, headings, links and accessibility results aren't in the file. Copy those via the clipboard.
"Shortcuts" tab
Jump to Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SISTRIX and Bing

The Shortcuts tab splits the address into domain, host and path. Pick a scope to decide what the target tool is prefilled with: URL, path, host or domain. 46 shortcuts in five groups:
- Google Search Console (6): queries, pages, page indexing, sitemaps, internal and external links. Set your Google account number once via the gear icon.
- Ahrefs (8): including organic keywords, top pages, backlinks, referring domains
- SISTRIX (9): including visibility index, organic keywords, top 10 rankings, cannibalization
- Bing Webmaster Tools (8): including search queries, URL inspection, robots.txt tester
- Other tools (15): including PageSpeed Insights, Rich Results Test, W3C validators, site: search
Star your favorites, and find the last ten under "Recently Used". Both stay local in your browser.
The toolbar doesn't pull data from these tools. It opens the right report, and you see the data with your own login. Heads-up for users outside Germany: the SISTRIX and Ahrefs shortcuts open with the German (de) database, so switch the country inside the tool. Google has retired Google Cache and the Mobile-Friendly Test, so those two links under "Other tools" no longer work.

How the SEO browser extension highlights headings, links and issues
Three features work on the page itself, so you see exactly where an element sits.
Installation
How to install the SEO toolbar in Chrome, Edge, Brave and Opera
- Open the Chrome Web Store: go to "Buzzmatic Advanced SEO-Toolbar" in the Chrome Web Store and click "Add to Chrome". The download is free and under 0.5 MB.
- Confirm the permission: Chrome tells you the extension can read and change data on websites. It needs that to read the page and highlight elements on it.
- Pin the icon: click the puzzle icon next to the address bar, then the pin next to the toolbar.
- Start: open any page and click the icon. No setup, no signup.
You'll find all extensions in the puzzle menu or at chrome://extensions, where you can also turn the toolbar on or off.
Edge, Brave and Opera
Microsoft Edge, Brave and Opera are built on Chromium, like Chrome, and install extensions from the Chrome Web Store. In Edge, allow "extensions from other stores" once. The toolbar runs on Manifest V3, Chrome's current extension standard. There's no Firefox or Safari version at the moment.
In practice
5 ways to use a free SEO plugin for Chrome
Check a competitor in two minutes
Open a competitor's ranking page and read the title, description and headings. The Links tab shows internal and external linking. One shortcut later, Ahrefs or SISTRIX tells you which keywords the URL ranks for.
QA content before it goes live
Check the preview: title under 60 characters? Exactly one H1? Accidentally set to noindex? Canonical right? The Excel export documents the state for the ticket.
Check hreflang on international sites
"Validate" shows in seconds whether every language version links back to the current page. For whole URL sets, use our hreflang generator and checker. Larger setups are what our international SEO team handles.
Run a quick accessibility pre-check
The European Accessibility Act has applied since June 2025. The A11y tab gives you a first list of automatically detectable violations, and the impact filter shows what to fix first.
Jump from a URL into Search Console
One of your pages underperforms? With scope "URL", open the Search Console queries or indexing report for exactly that page. Our guide explains how to set up Google Search Console.

What is the best SEO Chrome extension?
There isn't one. Most SEOs pair an on-page toolbar with the extension of their main tool. If you want to work without an account, use Search Console and Ahrefs daily and check accessibility along the way, the Buzzmatic SEO Toolbar covers that in one popup. More tools for meta data, page speed and images are in our guide to on-page SEO tools.

SEO toolbar FAQ
Yes. It costs nothing, needs no account, and has no limits or paid features. Install it from the Chrome Web Store and use all six tabs right away.
Yes. Google Search Console shows the queries, clicks and indexing status of your own site, PageSpeed Insights measures load time, and the Rich Results Test checks structured data. For on-page checks in the browser there are free extensions like this SEO toolbar, and we offer 60+ free SEO and marketing tools with no signup.
Open "Buzzmatic Advanced SEO-Toolbar" in the Chrome Web Store and click "Add to Chrome". The extension is active right away. Pin the icon via the puzzle icon next to the address bar. You can turn it off or remove it at chrome://extensions. The interface is in English.
No. The toolbar currently runs in Chrome and Chromium-based browsers such as Edge, Brave and Opera, which install extensions from the Chrome Web Store. In Edge, allow extensions from other stores once. There's no Firefox or Safari version.
No. It shows on-page data for the open page, not rankings, search volume or authority metrics. The shortcuts open the organic keywords of the URL in Ahrefs or SISTRIX, or the queries in Google Search Console, with one click. You need your own login for those tools.
Yes, the meta data. In the Tools tab, "Export to Excel" creates an XLSX file with URL, title, meta description with lengths, canonical and meta robots, plus hreflang and JSON-LD if present. Headings, links and accessibility results aren't included. Copy those via the clipboard.
Nothing to Buzzmatic: no tracking, no analytics, no servers of our own, no account. Three features send requests to third parties. The A11y tab loads the axe-core library from cdnjs.cloudflare.com into the page you're viewing when you open the tab. The robots.txt checker and hreflang validation fetch the robots.txt or the alternate URLs when you click them. Shortcuts pass the URL, path or domain to the chosen tool only when you click. Favorites stay local.
The toolbar doesn't inject a permanent bar into pages. It works as a popup and only reads a page when you click the icon. The SEO, Headings and Links tabs load instantly. The accessibility check takes a few seconds depending on the page.
The rendered page. It reads the DOM after JavaScript has run. If a script sets the title or canonical later, you see the final value. It doesn't compare against the raw HTML source.
