HTML Tag Counter

Counts occurrences of different HTML tags on a page.

Loading…

The HTML Tag Counter counts how often each HTML tag appears on a page. Paste HTML directly or enter a URL. It gives you a quick overview of whether the page structure is clean or whether certain tags are overused.

How it works

  1. Choose the input method: paste HTML or enter a URL.
  2. Click "Analyze HTML".
  3. Review the results table showing the count per tag type.

When to count HTML tags

The tag counter shows how many div, span, h1 through h6, img and other tags are on the page. This helps with two tasks: checking whether the heading hierarchy (H1 to H6) is logical, and spotting div or span bloat that slows load time and makes the source code harder to read.

When you enter a URL, the tool fetches the page server-side. When you paste HTML, the analysis runs in your browser.

FAQ

Can I enter a URL?

Yes. Choose "URL Input", enter the address and the tool fetches the page and counts all tags. Protected pages or very slow servers may cause errors.

Are all HTML tags counted?

Yes. Every element in the DOM is captured and grouped by tag type. Self-closing tags like img and br are included.

Is my HTML stored?

For HTML input the analysis runs locally in your browser. For URL input the page is fetched server-side but the content is not stored.
